Dr. Thakuri seeks the latest medical and technological advances for the benefit of his patients. He is known for being very concerned with each patient's well-being.

Dr. Thakuri joined the Cancer Care of WNC staff in 2007. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. He is a native of Nepal.

He graduated from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine in Kathmandu, Nepal. His internship and residency were completed at the Upstate Medical University, previously known as: State University of New York, Health Science Center. He also completed a three year Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology from Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, New York.

Prior to joining Cancer Care of WNC, Dr. Thakuri was a faculty member at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He brings with him six years of experience in the field of Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Dr. Thakuri is married to Dr. Mridu Chand, who is also a Medical Oncologist with Cancer Care of WNC. They are proud parents of two children. Dr. Thakuri is passionate about mountains, since he had grown up amongst the most impressive of all mountains, the Himalayas. He loves to hike and also explore the countryside on his bike. He loves to know and understand the varied and rich cultures of the world. In his quiet, contemplative moments, he enjoys listening to a variety of world music.

Dr. Thakuri is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
