Known as "the soul of the practice, " Dr. Messino's vision has helped guide Cancer Care of Western North Carolina into a remarkable place of healing and hope. He is known for doing whatever it takes to ensure that his patients receive the very best treatment possible. His patients also appreciate the time he takes with each office visit to ensure that every question and concern is answered completely. Dr. Messino graduated from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio with a BA in Biological Science. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical School at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. His internship and residency were completed at East Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville, North Carolina, where he held the distinction of being Chief Resident. He returned to Ohio State University for his Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Messino has been practicing with Cancer Care of WNC since 1990. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Oncology and board-eligible in Hematology. Dr. Messino is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, North Carolina Medical Society, Piedmont Oncology Associates, and Southeast Community Cancer Consortium, and is currently the vice-chairman of the Oncology Service Line at Mission St. Joseph's Hospital. |
